The HMAS Foden Steam Truck was in fact the first type of commercial Truck, and it performed the majority of commercial transport in Britain in the early twentieth century. The Vehicle came in two designs. In the Overtype, the engine and boiler sat up inside the cab, and it looked more like a locomotive than a truck. The Undertype Steam Trucks had the engine and boiler under the chassis, and served as a design precursor to modern truck design.
